Rocherpan Nature Reserve is a coastal nature reserve teeming with birds and colourful wildflowers. The reserve, which lies 25km north of Velddrif on the Cape West Coast, consists largely of a seasonal vlei that is usually dry between March and June. Rocherpan was established as a nature reserve (930 hectares in size) in 1966, and the adjacent section of the Atlantic Ocean was declared a marine reserve in 1988 (150 hectares in size).
Rocherpan currently has eight eco-cabins available to be booked for accommodation, with the four newest cabins having just opened.

1 Review on “Rocherpan Nature Reserve”
All I can say is wow! From the moment we got out the car, my son, Damian was able to move freely in his wheelchair from the parking area to our cabin, as well as in and around the cabin. The picnic & braai area and birdhides are all accessible with a wheelchair, and because Damian has a motorised wheelchair we tested the offroad hiking trail that hadn’t been adapted and found ourselves at another birdhide. The team at Rocherpan are amazing and made sure we were comfortable and informed of where to go and what to see. Even though the pan was dry because of the drought, we saw lots of life scurrying and fluttering about… tortoises and birds. Great to see the water conservation efforts in place at the reserve!
