Guests are invited to time travel to relive the early history of Cape Town through fascinating artifacts, detailed displays, exhibits and graphic information boards. Step below sea level to the sand of the original Cape Town shoreline and explore the Archaeology ruins of this Dutch East India Company fortification that has been buried for 140 years.
Host to the “Twenty-Seven Years of Photojournalism” photo exhibition by Nic Bothma / EPA. A glimpse into the life of a wire photographer from Africa, that includes Award winning images in association with the European Pressphoto Agency, breathtaking seascapes and unpublished images of Nelson Mandela.
Museum Guided Tour:
Duration: 40 – 60 min
Site specific trained guides from local communities dress in period costume, allowing guests to experience the ambiance of the 17th and 18th century history of Cape Town through interesting stories and anecdotes. The tour takes place among the ruins of the old fortification, bringing that part of Cape Town’s history back to life.
