This is my story of where it began. Born in a place I had never been before. I’ve encountered many souls in the ocean. Each soul I had the blessing of helping, brought me closer to a place of peace and inner healing within my own soul. There have been days the skies were grey, but I learnt to create my own sunshine. If it were not for the sea I would not be here today.
For me life is about surfing. I was saved one wave, one smile at a time. I have dedicated my life to helping people find themselves through the sea and surfing. I coach people from all walks of life, from the richest to the poorest, from the lost to the disabled and from the young to the old. ‘It’s my passion, my purpose, my joy.’
Since coming to Muizenberg, I have been able to reach out and help both children and adults through the fun and relaxing nature of surfing. Individuals who fell apart after a divorce; some seeking a deeper meaning to life than just work, money and stress; people who are working through the pain of a lost loved one; hostage victims and those living with terminal illnesses who have limited life expectancy. I have witnessed souls coming alive, smiles where there once was tears or fear, hope where there once was hopelessness. Most of all I have seen souls changed, one wave and one smile at a time.
