Horse Rides at Pete’s Adventure Farm is a horse riding trail activity near Stellenbosch providing 1.5 hour and 3 hour rides in a 240 ha wildlife sanctuary for all levels of riding experience. The wildlife sanctuary is home to giraffe, zebra, wildebees, eland, springbok, bontebok, water buck, gemsbok and a variety of bird life.
While our rides are not accessible for people who are unable to sit unaided on a horse for at least 1.5 hours, we have arranged special events where we host a group of children with disabilities for an interactive day with the horses – learning to groom, feed carrots, and go for an assisted ride. Ideal for a school group outing.
UNIVERSAL ACCESS FEATURES:
WHEELCHAIR-USERS:
- Rides NOT accessible for people unable to sit unaided on a horse for 1.5 hours
- We CAN arrange special events for differently-abled children (i.e. birthday parties, school outings), where children are assisted for lead-rein rides and interaction with the horses (learning to groom, feed and about the tack).
VISUALLY IMPAIRED OR HEARING IMPAIRED
We have had a visually impaired guest join our trail ride through the wildlife sanctuary. We always have two guides on every ride, so one is able to ride alongside a rider needing extra guidance. As long as a rider is able to sit unaided on a horse for 1.5 hours we can look at options for making a ride possible. Please discuss individual needs beforehand so we can share our riding experience as best as possible with you.
CHILDREN:
- We can accommodate children from EIGHT years old and up on our 1.5 hour ride.
