Where is DJ Whizzkat from?

Damian Gower was born in East London in the Eastern Cape, and has been living in Cape Town since 2010 where great opportunities opened up for him in pursuing his interests and life goals.

Personal achievements

Damian, who has a physical disability, is a true warrior on wheels and in 2015 co-founded an NPO to provide adventures for children with disabilities, following on from his own life experiences which include ziplining, river rafting, horse riding trails, hiking, running & cycling events amongst others. He has completed the Cape Town Cycle Tour 7 times, as well as other cycling and running events like the Two Oceans, Gun Run and Peninsula Ultra – of course providing the soundtrack for his pilots as they pedal or push around the peninsula! Damian also has a great love for the outdoors and wildlife, accompanying his mother daily in her work as a safari guide, and enjoys travelling both by plane or on a long roadtrip where naturally he takes care of the playlist!

Damian’s life-long passion is music. From a young age music has been his one constant love and his days have always been filled with beats spanning a wide range of genres, but a leaning toward EDM tracks when mixing. In 2022, through the vision and mentorship of Rise Academy, his long-standing dream of becoming a DJ is becoming a reality.
